unknown means le clevis is parted and the bolt withdrawn, allowing

13, 1882 in a sleeping-car of the G. T. Railway between Kingston and
Brockville, Ontario – Some few weeks previous to his death,
Francis Shanly had lost his son, a young man of great promise,
causing him to be greatly depressed and saddened, and ther can be
little doubt that his sudden death, the immediate cause of which was
apoplexy, was in no small degree due to mental anguish. Francis
Shanly was the youngest but one of the six sons of Jas. Shanly, Esq.
who emigrated with his family to Upper Canada in 1836. Francis Shanly
was a brother of Walter Shanly – (Obit.

over board of the steamer Norseman – The body is
recovered, and taken to Whitby, where it is buried on 14th.
She was the wife of the Captain of the steamer Norseman and
the daughter of Rev. John Shaw, of Whitby (Ontario). She had only
been married a few months. On the
same night (of the 11th
or the 14th?)
, Captain Sherwood, who is staying at the residence of his
father-in-law is ordered quinine by his brother-in-law, Dr. Shaw. The
prescription is made up at Whitfield's drug store and morphine
accidentally substituted for quinine, the result being that Capt.
Sherwood dies from the effects of a dose of it. – (JRO

SHERWOOD, Captain of the steamer Norseman –
Died August 11 or 14, 1880, Whitby, Ontario – Captain Sherwood,
who is staying at the residence of his father-in-law is ordered
quinine by his brother-in-law, Dr. Shaw. The prescription is made up
at Whitfield's drug store and morphine accidentally substituted for
quinine, the result being that Capt. Sherwood dies from the effects
of a dose of it. The Captain's wife had died on the 11th
(buried on the 14th), drowned after falling over board of

will not soon be forgotten. He was the son of the late Dr. Stuart,
for many years Archdeacon of Kingston, and grandson of the Rev. John
Stuart, a clergyman of the Church of England, who at the close of the
revolutionary war, left the U.S. to settle in Canada. His mother was
a daughter of General Brooks, of Medford, for several years Governor
of Massachusetts. G. O. Stuart pursued his legal studies with his
father's brother, Mr. (afterwards Sir James) Stuart. He married
Margaret Black Stacey, niece of the late Hon. Hy. Black, C.B., who
