BAYFIELD,
Henry Wolsey (Admiral) – Born January 21, 1795 at Hull,
Yorkshire, England – Died February 10, 1885 at Charlottetown,
P.E.I – He was the scion of an ancient English family, of
Bayfield Hall, Norfolk. He resided for 14 years in the City of
Quebec, viz., form 1827 to 1841, when he removed to Charlottetown,
which continued to be his home until his death. He married in 1838
Fanny, only daughter of Gen. Chas. Wright. – (Obit.

(1885-86), commanding 82nd Batt., V. I. – Born June
7, 1835 at Charlottetown, P.E.I. – Died September 2, 1886 at
Charlottetown, P.E.I. – He was the second son of the late Hon.
Geo. Beer – (Obit.

CALLAGHAN, Patrick – Keeper of the Sherwood
Cemetery – Died May 25, 1885 in the Sherwood Cemetery, near
Charlottetown, P.E.I. – Murdered by Alex. Gillies, of Harmony
who is convicted and sentenced for execution. His sentence is later
commuted for imprisonment for life in the Dorchester Penitentiary. –

CAMPBELL, Duncan – Author of popular histories of the Provinces
of Nova Scotia and P. E. Island – Native of Scotland - Died
August 16, 1886 at Halifax, Nova Scotia aged 67. He settled in Nova

Judge of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (1848-81) – Born
February 14, 1800 at the Elysian fields, Cumberland, Nova Scotia –
Died June 16, 1885 in Halifax, Nova Scotia – He was the son of
Mr. John F. W. Des Barres, who was drowned when quite a young man,
and grand son of Joseph F. W. Des Barres, a well-known military
officer and hydrographer, who served under Wolfe, at Louisbourg and
Quebec and was subsequently successively Lieut.-Governor of Cape

was a son of Mr. Speaker Hodgson, of the P.E.I. Assembly, by Rebecca,
daughter of Lieut.-Col. Joseph Robinson, of the South Carolina Regt.,
a U. E. loyalist, and a brother of the late Sir. Robt. Hodgson,
Lieut.-Gov. of P.E.I. He was thrice married, and by his second wife
(the youngest daughter of the Hon. Geo. Wright, Presdt. of the Leg.
Council) he had two sons : Mr. E. J. Hodgson, the well-known,
Q.C., and the Rev. G. W. Hodgson, M.A., an eminent Ch. of Eng.
