BARKER, Cephas (Rev.) – Born in 1818 at Chatham, England – Died November 14, 1881, London, Ontario – Had been 44 years in the service of the Bible Christian Church, labouring in England, P.E.I. and Ontario. – (Obit. 80-81).

BAYFIELD, Henry Wolsey (Admiral) – Born January 21, 1795 at Hull, Yorkshire, England – Died February 10, 1885 at Charlottetown, P.E.I – He was the scion of an ancient English family, of Bayfield Hall, Norfolk. He resided for 14 years in the City of Quebec, viz., form 1827 to 1841, when he removed to Charlottetown, which continued to be his home until his death. He married in 1838 Fanny, only daughter of Gen. Chas. Wright. – (Obit. 85).

BEER, Hy. (Lt.-Col.) – Mayor of Charlottetown, P.E.I. (1885-86), commanding 82nd Batt., V. I. – Born June 7, 1835 at Charlottetown, P.E.I. – Died September 2, 1886 at Charlottetown, P.E.I. – He was the second son of the late Hon. Geo. Beer – (Obit. 86).

CALLAGHAN, Patrick – Keeper of the Sherwood Cemetery – Died May 25, 1885 in the Sherwood Cemetery, near Charlottetown, P.E.I. – Murdered by Alex. Gillies, of Harmony who is convicted and sentenced for execution. His sentence is later commuted for imprisonment for life in the Dorchester Penitentiary. – (JRO 85).

CAMPBELL, Duncan – Author of popular histories of the Provinces of Nova Scotia and P. E. Island – Native of Scotland - Died August 16, 1886 at Halifax, Nova Scotia aged 67. He settled in Nova Scotia in 1866. – (Obit. 86).

De BLOIS, Geo Wastie (Hon.) – President of the Liberal Conservative Assn. (Queens, P.E.I) – Born July 12, 1824 in Halifax, Nova Scotia – Died August 14, 1886 in Charlottetown, P.E.I., where he had resided since 1847 – He was the son of the late S. W. De Blois, Esq., of Halifax. He married in 1847 Sarah Frances, daughter of the late Hon. T. H. Haviland, of Charlottetown – (Obit. 86).

Des BARRES, Wm. Fredk. (Hon.) – Late a Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (1848-81) – Born February 14, 1800 at the Elysian fields, Cumberland, Nova Scotia – Died June 16, 1885 in Halifax, Nova Scotia – He was the son of Mr. John F. W. Des Barres, who was drowned when quite a young man, and grand son of Joseph F. W. Des Barres, a well-known military officer and hydrographer, who served under Wolfe, at Louisbourg and Quebec and was subsequently successively Lieut.-Governor of Cape Breton and P.E.I. – (Obit. 85).

HODGSON, Daniel – Clerk of the Crown and Prothonotary, P.E.I. (1830-83) – Born in 1803 in Charlottetown, P.E.I. – Died July 21, 1883 in Charlottetown, P.E.I – He was a son of Mr. Speaker Hodgson, of the P.E.I. Assembly, by Rebecca, daughter of Lieut.-Col. Joseph Robinson, of the South Carolina Regt., a U. E. loyalist, and a brother of the late Sir. Robt. Hodgson, Lieut.-Gov. of P.E.I. He was thrice married, and by his second wife (the youngest daughter of the Hon. Geo. Wright, Presdt. of the Leg. Council) he had two sons : Mr. E. J. Hodgson, the well-known, Q.C., and the Rev. G. W. Hodgson, M.A., an eminent Ch. of Eng. divine. – (Obit. 83).

HODGSON, Robert (Sir.) – Late Lieut.-Governor of P.E.I. (1874-79) – Born in 1798 at Charlottetown, P.E.I. – Died September 15, 1880, Charlottetown, P.E.I. – He was the son of Robr. Hodgson, formerly Speaker of the Island Assembly, by rebecca, daughter of Lieut. Col. Joseph Robinson, of the South Carolina Regt. He married in 1827, Fanny, Daughter of the late Capt. Ranald Macdonald, of the Glengarry Light Infantry and Town Major of Charlottetown. – (Obit. 80-81).
